Following the stream weaving through large boulders, crossing forest trails, and then ascending Da Do Peak to look out over the mountains, forests, and ocean from above, the trekking journey in Vinh Hy Bay (Vinh Hai Commune) offers a distinct experience for nature-loving travelers.
Exploring the mountain and forest landscapes
When mentioning Vinh Hy, many people often think of beaches with crystal-clear blue waters and bay exploration activities. However, this land also boasts routes that take visitors away from the coastal setting to discover the pristine beauty of the Nui Chua mountains and forests. Among them, the trekking route from Lo O Stream to Da Do Peak (Cau Gay Village) is an ideal choice for those who love exploring nature and experiencing mountain landscapes.

Leaving the residential area, the path gradually leads visitors to Lo O Stream. The water weaves through large boulders under the forest canopy, creating a cool and refreshing atmosphere amidst the area's typically arid terrain. The rocks along the stream serve as resting stops for visitors to relax, enjoy the scenery, and listen to the sound of flowing water. The Lo O Stream – Da Do Peak route is about 5km long, taking from 3 to 5 hours, depending on physical fitness, weather conditions, and each group's resting time. Accompanying visitors on this trail, Mr. Tran Quang Vinh, an experienced local trekker, shared: “Trekking here, visitors do not just hike to conquer a destination, but also have time to admire the scenery and experience nature. However, people need to prepare shoes with good grip, especially quick-draining ones, bring enough drinking water, and follow guidance, especially on rocky or slippery sections.”

Conquering Da Do Peak, taking in panoramic views of Vinh Hy Bay
After following the stream and traversing forest trails, visitors continue their journey towards Da Do Peak, over 280 meters above sea level. The terrain features steep sections and uneven paths, so participants need to maintain a suitable pace. From the area of Da Do Peak, visitors can enjoy expansive views of Dong Tron, Cau Gay Village, Vinh Hy Bay, and the coastal forest belts. From above, the mountain and forest landscape meeting the sea offers a different perspective on Vinh Hy—a place featuring not only beaches and turquoise waters, but also natural terrain well-suited for exploration activities.

For hiking enthusiasts, the appeal of the journey lies not only in the moment of reaching the summit, but also in the experiential trek leading up to it. The changing scenery, the sounds of the stream, and the quiet space beneath the forest canopy make the trip a time for visitors to connect more closely with nature. Masa, a tourist from Japan, said: "I enjoy journeys exploring nature on foot. Along the way, I have time to observe the scenery, listen to the flowing water, and feel the atmosphere of the forest. It is a different experience from simply visiting a sightseeing spot and then leaving." Joining the journey, Yuan, a tourist from China, shared: "Through researching online, when Vinh Hy is introduced, most suggestions are about marine exploration activities. Arriving here and being introduced to this activity by locals, I found it very interesting, making my trip all the more meaningful."
Beyond the landscape, according to local residents, Da Do Peak is also associated with the resistance history of the people of Cau Gay Village. Local stories learned during the journey help visitors gain a deeper understanding of the land they are traversing.
After the trek, visitors can rest and enjoy rustic dishes prepared by local residents, such as chicken dishes, stone crab, papaya soup, and more, creating additional opportunities for visitors to converse and learn about the local community's way of life.
With diverse landscapes, terrain rich in experiential value, and stories tied to local life and history, the Lo O Stream – Da Do Peak trekking route offers an exciting experience, adding another option for visitors to Vinh Hy. This journey not only opens up a different perspective on a familiar coastal region, but also takes visitors deeper into exploring the beauty of the Nui Chua mountains and forests.
