To realize the goal of turning Khanh Hoa into a centrally run city before 2030, the drastic involvement of the entire political system is required. In that process, the press plays an important role, contributing to inspiring aspirations and fostering consensus among all officials and people. On the occasion of the Provincial Journalists Association organizing the 13th Press Seminar - 2026, journalist Doan Minh Long - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, President of the Provincial Journalists Association, shared his thoughts with reporters from Khanh Hoa Newspaper, Radio and Television on this matter.

- The 13th Press Seminar - 2026 has the theme “The role of the press in communicating and implementing the Resolution of the 1st Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Congress, 2025 - 2030 term; contributing to achieving the double-digit growth target and building Khanh Hoa Province into a centrally run city”. Could you tell us about the significance of the seminar in the province's current stage of development?
- The seminar holds practical significance, taking place in the context where Khanh Hoa is facing new opportunities and development requirements, with the goal of becoming a centrally run city before 2030. Resolution No. 09 dated January 28, 2022 of the Politburo on the construction and development of Khanh Hoa Province to 2030, with a vision to 2045, has oriented the construction and development of Khanh Hoa Province into a centrally run city, a high-growth pole of the country, aiming toward the goal of enhancing the material and spiritual life and happiness of the People. To realize that goal, the province sets the requirement to maintain an average GRDP growth rate of 11 - 12%/year in the 2025 - 2030 period; accelerate economic restructuring, develop the digital economy, enhance the quality of urbanization, and improve people's income.
In that process, the press is not only a channel for transmitting guidelines and policies, but also plays a role in guiding public opinion, building social consensus, encouraging innovation and creativity, discovering shortcomings, and contributing to promoting the resolution of issues arising from practice. Through the seminar, we hope to create a forum for managers, scientists, experts, journalists, and the business community to jointly exchange views, assess the current situation, share experiences, and propose practical solutions, helping the press better fulfill its role of accompanying the province's development.
- Reality has shown that the press has made significant contributions to disseminating and promoting the image and potential of Khanh Hoa. However, given the new development requirements, in your view, how should journalistic activities innovate to help drive double-digit economic growth?
- Over the past period, press agencies have actively disseminated and promoted potentials, advantages, and socio-economic development achievements, contributing to spreading Khanh Hoa's image to citizens, enterprises, and domestic and foreign investors. However, with the development requirements in the new era, the press needs to continue to innovate vigorously in content, methods, and information quality. Rather than merely reporting events, activities, or achieved results, journalistic works must delve into analyzing the core nature of issues, evaluating policy implementation effectiveness, clarifying opportunities and challenges, and proposing practical solutions. In particular, it is necessary to strengthen in-depth series on economic restructuring, public investment efficiency, labor productivity, administrative reform, the investment and business climate, and the quality of human resources.
In addition, the press needs to bring into play its inspirational role, awakening pride in revolutionary traditions, solidarity, and the aspiration to strive forward among the people of Khanh Hoa. Good models, effective practices, exemplary enterprises, and creative individuals should be reported in a timely manner, thereby creating momentum for cadres, party members, the business community, and the people to join forces in fulfilling development targets. I believe that each journalistic work must contribute to helping the public correctly understand policies, clearly observe reality, and place greater trust in the province's development prospects.
- One of the key tasks at present is to remove bottlenecks in infrastructure and human resource quality, and resolve stalled, prolonged projects. In your opinion, how should the press promote its role in social supervision and critique to help address these issues?
- In this period when Khanh Hoa focuses on implementing major development goals, the functions of social supervision and critique must be promoted in a constructive, objective spirit that respects the rule of law. First and foremost, the press must proactively detect and report difficulties and shortcomings during the execution of key projects and works; weaknesses in administration, governance, resource allocation, and policy implementation. Reporting must be based on verified information, incorporate multi-dimensional analysis, and clarify the responsibilities of relevant agencies, organizations, and individuals.
Along with pointing out problems, the press needs to enhance a solutions-oriented approach. Press works should not only reflect difficulties and shortcomings, but also analyze causes, draw upon practical experience, recognize effective models, and propose appropriate solutions. For delayed and prolonged projects, the press can help clarify bottlenecks regarding procedures, planning, land, site clearance, mechanisms, policies, and coordination among relevant agencies. On that basis, it creates a forum for regulatory agencies, businesses, experts, and the public to exchange views and seek feasible solutions.

- What do you expect from this workshop, and what message would you like to send to journalists and the people of the province?
- We expect the workshop to become a substantive, open, and responsible exchange forum, bringing together dedicated opinions of theoretical and practical value from managers, scientists, experts, journalists, and the business community. Through the workshop, the Organizing Committee hopes to better identify achieved results, shortcomings to be addressed, and requirements set for journalistic activities in the process of communicating and implementing the Resolution of the 1st Provincial Party Congress, 2025 - 2030 term.
I hope that press agencies will continue to promote their sense of responsibility, professional courage, humaneness, and creativity; constantly innovate communication content and methods; truthfully reflect socio-economic life; actively identify good models and effective practices, while frankly pointing out limitations and shortcomings in a constructive spirit. The press needs to truly become a reliable bridge between the Party, the government, and the people; serve as a pioneering force in conveying official information, building social consensus, inspiring the aspiration for development, and fostering innovation. With the accompaniment of the press, along with the determination of the entire political system, the business community, and the people, I believe Khanh Hoa will have greater momentum to effectively harness its potentials and advantages, resolve bottlenecks, successfully achieve socio-economic development goals, and gradually realize the aspiration of becoming a centrally-run city, building an increasingly prosperous, civilized, and happy province.
- Thank you, sir!
