On the morning of August 28, leaders of Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism chaired a meeting with relevant departments, agencies and units to review the progress of implementing tasks under the Plan to implement the National Action Program on protecting and promoting the value of the intangible cultural heritage "Cham pottery making art" of the Provincial People's Committee.

Previously, in July 2026, the Provincial People's Committee issued the Plan to implement the National Action Program on protecting and promoting the value of the intangible cultural heritage "Cham pottery making art" and the Project on management, protection and promotion of the value of the intangible cultural heritage "Cham pottery making art" for the period 2025 - 2028 and subsequent years.
The Plan aims to protect, restore and sustainably promote the value of Cham pottery heritage; maintain the vitality of the heritage through practice, transmission, and promoting the role of the Cham community as subjects; link heritage conservation with socio-economic development, community tourism, craft villages, and create livelihoods for local people; promote digital transformation in heritage management and promotion. The province strives to remove Cham pottery making art from the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding by 2030, aiming to inscribe it on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Key tasks for 2026 include: organizing a pottery product design contest, scientific conference on heritage conservation; opening 2 pottery training classes for about 60 trainees at Bau Truc pottery village; completing inventory, documentation, building database, website, books, promotional documentaries; completing planning of raw material areas, pottery firing sites, consolidating the craft village exhibition house; building dossiers for conferring artisan titles, support policies for pottery makers; implementing community tourism associated with craft villages; registering trademarks, geographical indications, expanding markets; completing the evaluation of the 2023 - 2026 period, sending periodic reports to UNESCO on time. In 2027, continue to open 2 training classes for artisans and next generation with about 70 trainees; submit to the Provincial People's Committee for ranking Po Klong Chanh Temple (pottery ancestor) as a provincial relic; encourage creativity in designs through contests, trade promotion, fairs, exhibitions.

The tasks are being implemented by departments and agencies basically on schedule. In particular, the plan to organize the 2026 Cham pottery product design contest has been issued; 2 Cham pottery training classes have been opened. The propaganda work on protecting and promoting the value of the intangible cultural heritage "Cham pottery making art" has been strengthened... At the meeting, representatives of departments, agencies and units exchanged and found solutions to remove some difficulties and obstacles and identified key tasks for the coming time. At the same time, reviewed the implementation of Vietnam's commitments to UNESCO for the period 2023 - 2026.
Concluding the meeting, Mr. Le Van Hoa - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested departments, agencies and units to closely follow the tasks assigned by the Provincial People's Committee, implement on schedule; proactively report when encountering difficulties for timely removal, and jointly strive to complete the set goals.
