For the first time, Nha Trang Bay will host the VPS Cup Fareast 19R Open & International Regatta 2026, one of the highlight marine sporting events within the framework of the Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2026. The event is jointly organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Seanata Sailing and Technical Services Joint Stock Company.

The regatta will bring together nine sailing teams from leading clubs across countries and territories including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan (China), Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, as well as top sailing clubs from Vietnam. Competitors will race on standardized Fareast 19R One Design keelboats, a class widely used in professional competitions worldwide. The use of identical boats ensures fairness and places emphasis on the sailors’ skills, tactics, and teamwork. The event will take place from July 17 to 19 at various locations across Nha Trang Bay. On July 17, athletes and teams will complete registration procedures at Ana Marina Nha Trang Marina (North Nha Trang Ward). The opening ceremony will also be held on the same day, attended by provincial leaders, representatives of departments and local authorities, participating athletes and teams, as well as numerous domestic and international spectators and visitors. Following the ceremony, teams will receive their boats and begin training sessions in preparation for the official races. According to the schedule, races will commence at 12:00 PM on July 18 and 19 in the waters off Nha Trang Center (Nha Trang Ward). Between nine and twelve races are expected to be conducted, depending on weather conditions, wind strength, and sea currents. The entire competition will be managed, supervised, and scored in accordance with international standards by a panel of experienced and professionally qualified sailing officials. Mr. Bui Anh Tuan, Director of Seanata Sailing and Technical Services Joint Stock Company and Head of the Organizing Committee, stated that preparations for the regatta have been largely completed and that everything is ready for exciting competitions among domestic and international teams. The Organizing Committee has been working closely with relevant agencies and partners to implement professional operations, logistics, communications, and safety measures to ensure the event's success. Beyond being a platform for athletes to demonstrate their professional expertise, tactical capabilities, and competitive spirit, the regatta also serves as an opportunity to promote the image of Nha Trang Bay and showcase Khanh Hoa’s potential for marine sports and tourism to the international community. |
