On the morning of August 24, at Nha Trang ward, the Department of Cultural Heritage (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province to open a training course to improve the quality of human resources in managing, protecting and promoting intangible cultural heritage values. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Viet Cuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage; Ms. Thai Thi Le Hang - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The training course lasts 3 days (from August 24 to 26), with the participation of 150 trainees who are officials and civil servants from agencies and units of provinces and cities across the country.
At the training course, trainees will learn about the following contents: Building and implementing projects on managing, protecting and promoting intangible cultural heritage values after inscription in provinces and cities; UNESCO regulations on implementing programs, projects, and activities of intangible cultural heritage inscribed in the List of Good Safeguarding Practices under the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage; domestic and international experiences in implementing projects and programs on managing, protecting and promoting intangible cultural heritage values. Trainees will also have field trips and practical learning on managing, protecting and promoting intangible cultural heritage in Khanh Hoa.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Viet Cuong said that with the promulgation of the Cultural Heritage Law 2024 and guiding documents, many localities have proactively implemented activities to identify, inventory, compile dossiers for inscription, and develop post-inscription projects according to new regulations. Therefore, improving professional capacity for staff, especially mastering regulations and methods of building and implementing projects on managing, protecting and promoting intangible cultural heritage values after inscription, is an urgent requirement. Organizing the training course in Khanh Hoa province - a locality with many typical intangible cultural heritages - will create favorable conditions for trainees to combine theoretical research with exchange and practical learning.
Through the training course, trainees will enhance their awareness, professional knowledge and skills in managing, protecting and promoting intangible cultural heritage; especially skills in building and implementing projects for heritages in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage and UNESCO lists. The training course is also a forum for localities to exchange and learn from experiences in managing, protecting and promoting heritage values, especially experiences in building and implementing projects. Field trips and practical learning in Khanh Hoa create conditions for trainees to apply to their local work.
Speaking at the welcome ceremony, Ms. Thai Thi Le Hang emphasized that along with the responsibility to protect and promote heritage values, Khanh Hoa always identifies learning, sharing experiences and strengthening connections with provinces and cities as an important requirement. Because the management, protection and promotion of cultural heritage values in general and intangible cultural heritage in particular is not a story of a single locality; each heritage protected and promoted contributes to enriching the cultural heritage treasure of the nation; each good experience can become a useful suggestion for other places. Khanh Hoa province hopes that through the course, the connection among state management officials in the field of intangible cultural heritage across the country will be maintained, thereby sharing good models, effective practices, difficulties and lessons learned in the process of performing tasks. This will be a resource to jointly improve the quality of management, protection and promotion of intangible cultural heritage values.
