The People's Committee of Ninh Phuoc Commune recently held a meeting to implement Plan No. 9379 dated July 23, 2026 of the Provincial People's Committee on executing the National Action Program to safeguard and promote the value of the intangible cultural heritage “Art of pottery making of Cham people”; and the Project on managing, protecting, and promoting the value of the intangible cultural heritage “Art of pottery making of Cham people for the 2025 - 2028 period and subsequent years”. At the same time, it deployed tasks and assigned duties for organizing the 1st Bau Truc Cham Pottery Festival of Ninh Phuoc Commune in 2026.
According to the plan, the festival will take place from October 10 to 12 on an expanded commune scale with the participation of neighboring localities, comprising ceremonial rituals and festive activities.

The ceremonial part includes the opening ritual of the Po Klong Can Temple (Bau Truc village)—an important traditional religious ceremony of the Cham people, aimed at commemorating and expressing gratitude for the merits of Lord Po Klong Can, the craft ancestor who taught the art of pottery making; while also praying for peace for the villagers, bountiful harvests, and sustainable development of the craft village. The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at Ninh Phuoc Square.
The festive part includes numerous cultural, experiential, and tourism promotional activities, such as: an exhibition and hands-on experience of the cultural heritage of Cham pottery art; brocade weaving experiences with artisans; tours of Bau Truc pottery village, brocade weaving villages, and local historical and tourist sites using virtual reality (VR) technology; and the program “A Day as a Bau Truc Pottery Artisan” for tourists, locals, and students. The festival will also feature a culinary fair showcasing OCOP products and local specialties.

The 1st Bau Truc Cham Pottery Festival is associated with the 2026 Kate Festival of the local Cham community, aiming to honor the cultural identity, beliefs, and values of the UNESCO-inscribed intangible cultural heritage “Art of pottery making of Cham people”; and pay tribute to artisans, heritage practitioner communities, and traditional craft villages. Through this, it aims to raise public awareness and community responsibility in sustainably safeguarding and promoting heritage values, gradually removing the heritage from the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding towards inscription on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity; while effectively implementing the Project on managing, protecting, and promoting heritage values for the 2025 - 2028 period and subsequent years.
The festival also presents an opportunity to promote the image of Ninh Phuoc’s land and people, its cultural, tourism, and culinary offerings, and traditional craft villages; harness the potential of community-based tourism, foster socio-economic development, and create spaces for cultural, artistic, and athletic exchanges, as well as community activities.
