On October 24, within the framework of the 2026 Khanh Hoa Provincial Digital Technology Festival, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Green Tourism standard certificates to 3 resorts: The Anam Cam Ranh (Cam Lam commune), Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang (Hon Tre island, Nha Trang ward), and Champa Island Nha Trang. These are the first establishments recognized as achieving the basic level of Green Tourism standards under the Khanh Hoa Provincial Green Tourism Standards, with a 3-year recognition validity.

Previously, at the end of 2024, the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee (former) issued the Plan for green and sustainable tourism development in the province up to 2030. The most important goal of the plan is that by 2030, 80% of tourist attractions and tourism business establishments in the province will be certified with green tourism labels. To achieve this goal, in May 2025, with sponsorship from Vingroup, the Provincial People's Committee formulated and promulgated the Khanh Hoa Provincial Green Tourism Standards.

The Khanh Hoa Provincial Green Tourism Standards consist of 2 separate sections, dedicated to tourist accommodation establishments and tourist attractions. The section for accommodation establishments includes 18 criteria on greenhouse gas emissions and 84 green action criteria. The green action criteria revolve around 4 themes: Sustainable development management team; environment; society; customers and employees. The section for tourist attractions has 10 criteria on greenhouse gas emissions and 90 green action criteria. These criteria are divided into 6 themes, comprising the 4 themes mentioned above along with green transportation and the conservation of cultural and natural resources.

Accompanying the set of standards are a Green Tourism Implementation Handbook and software for managing and evaluating green tourism standards. Through the software, businesses self-assess their operations using questionnaires corresponding to the criteria. The evaluation council then relies on the self-assessment results, inspects the evidence, and proposes that the Provincial People's Committee issue certificates. The certificate is valid for 3 years, across 3 levels: Basic, Advanced, and Excellent.
